BOISE, Idaho – Katie Kubiak (Cedarburg, Wisconsin) continued to take center stage and cement her place in Paralympic swimming, setting a fourth world record to close out the 2025 U.S. Paralympics Swimming National Championships at the Idaho Central Aquatic Center.

In her final swim of the evening, Kubiak soared to the finish line of the women’s 200-meter freestyle S4 in a time of 2:44.97. Tonight’s world record brings her event total to four, as she also set world-best marks in the 50-meter butterfly S4 (39.66), 100-meter backstroke S4 (1:32.72), and the 50 freestyle S4 (36.44).

“My coach and I wanted to show up and put up the best times we absolutely could, and to have the time drops that we saw in my 50s and the consistency in my 100- and 200-meter freestyle today were really the cherry on top,” said Kubiak. “I think the most impactful race this weekend was the 50-meter fly because breaking 40 seconds was a marker that I came into this meet with, so to be able to break it twice was huge. This momentum makes me really excited to get up and race in a couple of months (at world championships) in Singapore.”

Kubiak now sets her sights on the 2025 Para Swimming World Championships, scheduled for Sept. 21–27 in Singapore.

Also closing the meet on a high note was Gray Rutledge (Frankfort, Kentucky), who set a new American record in the women’s 100 freestyle S2 with a time of 2:35.95.

Following the conclusion of the event, the Swimmer of the Meet honor, which is an award given to the athlete who earns the highest total of World Para Swimming points throughout the competition, was given to Koehn Boyd (Ramsey, Minnesota) for the second year in a row. Boyd’s dominant performances were highlighted by world records in the 400-meter individual medley SM10 and 200 butterfly S10.

Coming up next for U.S. Paralympics Swimming is the 2025 Para Swimming World Championships in Singapore. The roster features 20 athletes – 13 women and seven men and includes multiple Paralympic and world champions, highlighting the depth of the national program as it rounds out the first year of the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic quad.
