BOISE, Idaho – The momentum continued to build on the second day of competition at the 2025 U.S. Paralympics Swimming National Championships for Katie Kubiak (Cedarburg, Wisconsin) and Koehn Boyd (Ramsey, Minnesota), as three more world records were rewritten in a thrilling display of speed and skill by the duo at the Idaho Central Aquatic Center in Boise, Idaho.

Kubiak continued her record-setting form, capturing another world-best time in the women’s 100-meter backstroke S4. The 22-year-old touched the wall in 1:32.72 during the preliminary heats, lowering the previous world mark by more than 10 seconds set back in 2011 and further cementing her place as a dominant force in the sport.

“It’s been a very surreal meet so far – I started working with a coach and we’ve been focusing on the weak aspects of my races, so being able to see those areas be stronger yesterday and today has been promising,” said Kubiak. “It gives me a lot of confidence going into world championships, which is my first international competition, knowing that I’m still making improvements when I’m competing and that I’m doing the right things to keep improving and staying at the level I want to be at.”

Following her world record in the 100 backstroke, Kubiak continued her powerful day with an additional world record in the 50 freestyle S4 with a time of 36.44, marking her third world record of the meet and adding to her rapidly growing list of achievements.

On the men’s side, Boyd delivered another powerful swim in the 200 butterfly S10, stopping the clock at 2:05.50 to set both a new American and world record. Boyd bested his own American record and set a new world record in the event for the first time since 2023.

“I came into this weekend hoping to drop time and do my best, and I never thought something like a world record was within reach, so I’m incredibly honored to represent this community and Team USA,” said Boyd. “Ahead of world championships in Singapore, I’m going to keep training mentally and physically, and keep my eye on the prize which is to hopefully make it to the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.”

Competition will conclude on Sunday, June 22, with preliminary sessions starting at 9 a.m. MT and finals beginning at 5:30 p.m. MT. All races are mixed class, and results based on the World Para Swimming points system to create an equitable field of play among the different classes.
All preliminary and final sessions will be livestreamed on LiveBarn.com. LiveBarn is a subscription-based service, and we have secured a discount code for event participants to share with friends and family who cannot attend in-person.
